Our Approach to Research
How we decide what to say about an ingredient, and what not to say.
Editorial Standards
- We describe what an ingredient may help with, not what it cures. Words like "helps" and "may" are deliberate.
- We separate cosmetic concerns from medical conditions, and every concern guide says when to see a dermatologist.
- We note known cautions, such as sensitivity, sun exposure and pregnancy considerations, on every ingredient page.
- We update guides when better information becomes available.
How We Choose Topics
We write about the questions people actually ask: what an ingredient does, whether two actives can be combined, and how to order a routine. You can find those answers across our concern guides, routines and journal.
Not Medical Advice
Our content is general information for healthy skin. If you have a persistent rash, severe acne, a changing mole or any condition that worries you, please talk to a board-certified dermatologist.
